As 2021 draws to a close, you might be reflecting on what you achieved, what you wish had gone better, and what you want to accomplish in 2022. Your clients are most likely reflecting on the same topics, giving you the perfect opportunity to help them with their upcoming goals.
Many clients will look back at 2021 with a great deal of uncertainty. From tax rates to market volatility, this year has been unpredictable and that doesn’t seem to be changing. We’re continuing to see a depressed interest rate market and there’s still $27 trillion sitting on the sidelines. When you compare that with the typical fixed annuity with A-rated paper, you’ll find more than $540 million in lost interest to Americans holding those certificates of deposit.
The goal is to reduce, or even eliminate, volatility wherever we can. And there are opportunities to do just that, especially for clients still in the accumulation phase. You can help construct their portfolio to outpace the traditional 60-40 portfolio by as much as 91% of the different variations.
But most importantly, there continues to be uncertainty around the tax rate. We’re going to see increased taxes, even if how that looks is still up in the air. Whether it’s through Social Security, income taxes, estate taxes or anything else they want to try from a means-testing standpoint, we know taxes are going to rise. So, we need to be flexible, and we also need to structure our clients’ portfolios for tax-deferred growth. And, at the same time, we need to have stability while giving our clients a greater opportunity for success. Your Ash team is here to help you do that.
